My husband, Douglas Elliott and I, Marisa Perry, have a jewelry design company, with a shop in Soho, NYC. Our shop showcases Douglas' work along with jewelry from several other designers, C-Pur and Karim.
Douglas Elliott has been designing and creating jewelry for 32 years and is a true master in his field. I can boast that he is one of the great jewelry designers and creators of the 20th and 21st Century. Coming from academic parents (his father was a lawyer and Supreme Court Judge), Douglas was chosen for a different path in life. Beginning his award winning career in photography, he chose jewelry design after shooting a fashion spread on the streets of the Diamond District in New York City. He was offered a job the same day and an apprenticeship soon followed. After years of training on the bench, and learning everything about stones, metal and technique, he now creates jewelry with the finest workmanship and design possible. An avid collector of Beatles memorabilia, Douglas infuses his elegant collection with an element of rock and roll that gives the collection its edge. Not to mention, he has an incredible love for fashion and beauty which is reflected in every one of his pieces.
I, Marisa Perry, was born in Beverly Hills to an artistic and culinary family and was always an artist at heart. But business called! After living in France for a year on a student exchange program, I fell in love with fashion and when I returned, I enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. At age 24, I moved to New York to work in fashion. But my love for food, cooking and fascination with ingredients took over, and in the years that followed I found my nitch in the food industry. My position was to find exotic ingredients for New York's celebrity chefs to put on their menus, and to market the products as well. I also organized culinary tours in France, Italy and England, for my chefs, so that they could visit the artisans who created these beautiful and delicious products! I am still teaching a variety of Cheese and Wine Classes at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.
In 2001, when I met Douglas, he was producing a collection under the name Elliott, which was sold at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, as well as private jewelry stores across the United States. He also, had maintained a strong business with custom designs for private clients. When we met, I fell in love with him and his designs, and was very intrigued with his business. I also felt like I had an obligation to show the world what he was capable of designing. Although, his very cool, semi-precious, fashion line was well appreciated on a national level, no one had the opportunity to see the unparalleled skill he displayed in the elaborate diamonds pieces he was creating for private clients. And it was that level of creation, that motivated me to start a company with him. Few jewelry designers, have the skill level, creative ability and taste to create such difficult, masterful pieces of jewelry and I simply had to provide a way to offer such inspired design to the world, even just as a pure art form. The unexpected gift we have received in return, is the honor of creating engagement rings for our clients. We never imagined that we would be so heavily involved in creating the most important piece of jewelry a woman will ever own, and one that she will wear for the rest of her life.

We embrace this as an important challenge, and one that deserves our greatest attention. We will go to any length possible to make sure that our brides to be, receive a ring, that they love more than anything. Being involved with our clients in such during such and important and emotional purchase, has brought us more joy than any other part of our work. Creating a beautiful piece of jewelry is extremely rewarding. But when a woman, who was just proposed to, comes in to show us her new ring and tells us that she loves it, all other rewards are minimized.
At Marisa Perry Atelier, we try to offer the ultimate service, in helping men and women select their stones, and design their settings. And we try to teach them everything that they need to know, in order to make the right decision. And we also try to offer this level of service in all other areas. Whether the client is a man, shopping for a gift for his girlfriend, or a woman who needs just the right necklace for a dress, we try our best to help them find, the perfect piece! We love to serve our customers and make their shopping experience as enjoyable as possible.
Douglas and I are completely united in our love of beauty and design, and together, we hope to offer a balance of art and commerce that can provide you with pieces of art, which will last many lifetimes. Please come and see us, or give us a call.
All my best, Marisa Perry
